The lake is currently 11 1/2 feet low. The park boat ramp is open, however the courtesy dock remains closed. The marina is closed until March 1, 2012. The vast majority of the lake is still safe for use, however we would recomend caution in any of the creeks or coves. 

9/01/2011 The lake is currently 8 1/2 feet low, however that has very little effect on boating here at PK. The boat ramp at the park is open, however the courtesy dock by the ramp is closed.   

Possum Kingdom Lake is a great lake for most any of your boating needs. The lake has 313 miles of shoreline and is over 42 miles long. There are 8 Brazos River Authority public use areas on the lake in addition to Possum Kingdom State Park, providing easy access to the lake.

There is a water recreation permit required of any boat using any form of motor ( electric or gas ). These permits are available at most any store or camp around the lake. Cost for these permits is: 1 day - $5.00 3 day - $12.00 5 day - $20.00 annual - $50-.00 ( $35.00 for seniors and active military ) The annual permit expires december 31st and midnight.
