We are now closed for the season. We will reopen on or
about March 1st, 2012. We look forward to your visit in the coming year!
There is no burn
ban and campfires are OK! The park has many spaces
available, so come on out! The boat ramp is open and the lake is only about 11 ft. low, not a serious problem
for this lake!

The new wildfires currently burning on the east side of Possum Kingdom Lake are having no effect on Possum Kingdom
State Park. The park is OPEN and fully functional.
The lake is currently about 8 1/2
ft. low, with the boat ramp open and usable. The courtesy dock beside the ramp is closed. The lake is open and not
seriously affected by the low water level, however Neeley's Slough is closed to boat traffic due to the fire.

The park has REOPENED and
the restrooms, showers, laundry room and dump station have also reopened as well as the cabins.
The primitive campsites and hiking trails will remain closed for an indefinite period.
Damage to
the sewer system has been repaired!
The wildfires have changed the look of the park, however
the campsites remain the same and the lake is as beautiful as always! There are beautiful new views that none of us knew existed
and the rebirth of the park has already begun. Grasses, cacti, and many other plants are regrowing and the greening of
the park is well underway.
The burn ban has been lifted, so campfires are now permitted.
Possum Kingdom State Park Store and Marina
has been certified as a Clean Texas Marina! This designation is bestowed upon marinas that have voluntarily met rigorous pollution
prevention standards established by the Clean Texas Marina Program and the Marina Advisory Board.
The
Brazos River Authority is now requiring a permit to operate any motor driven watercraft on Possum Kingdom Lake.
These permits are available at our store. These permits are available as follows: 1 Day - $5.00, 3 Day - $12.00, 5 Day - $20.00,
and Annual - $50.00/$35.00 for Seniors 65 and over and Active Military. The annual permit expires December 31 at midnight.
